This Privacy Statement explains how KobiCare (“KobiCare,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses personal information to provide our services (“Services”). It applies to information collected when you use our websites, mobile apps, and related services that connect families and pet owners with caregivers and pet service providers (the “KobiCare Service”), or when you otherwise interact with us.

Owner/Operator: KobiCare is owned and operated by Protreon Inc.

1) How Do We Collect Your Information?

We collect personal information with your consent and/or as necessary to provide and improve the Services, operate our business, fulfill contracts and legal obligations, protect our systems and users, and pursue other legitimate interests. You may decline to provide certain information, but some features may not work without it.

A. Information You Provide

  • Account Information: name, email, phone, postal address, date of birth, profile details, caregiver offerings, availability, service areas, pet/child profile details, and information you choose to add.
  • Content & Files: photos, videos, documents, messages, reviews/ratings (including private feedback), and support communications (including recorded calls where permitted by law and disclosed).
  • Payment & Tax Information: purchase details; payment card info (processed by third-party processors); caregiver payouts (e.g., bank details via our processor); tax identifiers (e.g., EIN/SSN/ITIN) where required.
  • Sensitive Personal Information (where necessary and permitted by law): government ID images; selfie/biometric comparison by verification provider; SSN/SIN for U.S./Canada background checks; citizenship/right-to-work info where required; limited health data you provide for customer support or claims; account access credentials (hashed passwords, 2FA); precise location for features like GPS walk tracking, nearby search, safety, arrival/departure timestamps, or fraud prevention.
  • Other Information: survey responses, promotions/sweepstakes entries, referrals, social media interactions, job applications, and other data you submit.

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Identifiers & Device Information: IP address, device IDs, OS/app version, language, time zone, mobile network, cookie identifiers.
  • Usage Information: pages/screens viewed, session duration, referring URLs, clicks, feature usage, in-app events.
  • Location Information: precise location (with permission) for features like GPS walk tracking and approximate location (e.g., via IP).

C. Information from Third Parties

  • Social/Integrated Logins: if you sign in via a third party (e.g., Apple/Google/Facebook), we receive information per that service’s authorization.
  • Verification/Background Check Providers: identity data and screening results where permitted.
  • Payment Processors: limited payment/payout metadata (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Data Partners/Affiliates: aggregated or inferred data, co-marketing partners, fraud-prevention services, and publicly available sources.

2) How Do We Use Your Information?

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services: accounts, profiles/listings, caregiver/owner discovery and communications, bookings, GPS walk tracking, customer support, R&D, safety/security (including fraud/abuse prevention), referral programs.
  • Communicate with you: service announcements, confirmations, updates, security alerts, support messages, review invitations, and personalized content.
  • Process payments and payouts: purchases, service fees, tips, refunds, caregiver payouts, tax reporting, accounting.
  • Personalize and market: recommendations and offers; promotions/sweepstakes; referral incentives (where lawful and respecting your choices).
  • Enable integrations: login with integrated services; sharing selected content to social platforms you authorize.
  • Legal, security, and compliance: detect, investigate, and prevent fraud/abuse; protect users and the public; meet legal obligations; defend legal claims; enforce our terms.
  • With your consent or as otherwise disclosed.

3) How Do We Disclose Your Information?

  • Between Families/Owners and Caregivers: we share booking-relevant details with the other party.
  • Public Information You Choose to Share: profiles, listings, reviews, photos, or other content you mark as public.
  • Service Providers & Vendors: hosting, security, background checks/ID verification, payments, analytics, customer support, marketing as a service provider, communications, and other support.
  • Legal/Compliance: to law enforcement, regulators, courts, tax authorities, or others when required or appropriate.
  • Security & Safety: to investigate or prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents; to protect KobiCare, our users (including children and pets), or the public.
  • Corporate Transactions: in mergers, acquisitions, financings, asset sales, bankruptcy, or similar events (as permitted by law).
  • Affiliates: with Protreon Inc. and subsidiaries under common control in line with this Statement (or their privacy statements where applicable).
  • De-identified Data: shared in compliance with law.

4) Social Sharing & Third-Party Tools

Our Services may offer social sharing buttons, embedded content, maps, app-store links, and sign-in integrations. Your use of these tools may share information with third parties per their privacy policies and your settings.

5) Advertising & Analytics by Third Parties

Where permitted, we allow analytics and advertising partners to set cookies or similar technologies to collect identifiers (IP, cookie IDs, device IDs), usage data, device data, and location data across our sites/apps and the broader web for measurement and to serve/measure ads. Some disclosures may be deemed a “sale” or “share” under certain U.S. state laws. See Your Choices and California & U.S. State Privacy Rights for opt-out options (including Global Privacy Control).

6) Information Security

We implement reasonable and appropriate safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Help protect your account with a strong, unique password and two-factor authentication where available.

7) International Data Transfers

We may process/store information in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. For transfers from the UK/EEA/Switzerland to countries without an adequacy decision, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses and UK addendum).

8) Information Retention

We retain information as long as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax/reporting), resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and for other legitimate purposes. Retention varies by data type, sensitivity, user expectations/consent, availability of self-service deletion, and legal requirements.

9) Your Choices

  • Privacy Management Center: manage access requests, deletion, corrections, cookie choices, and advertising preferences. [Link your portal here]
  • Account Access/Portability/Correction/Deletion: log in to update your profile or submit requests via the Privacy Management Center. If you cannot access it, see Contact Us.
  • Location Settings: enable/disable precise location in your device. Some features (e.g., GPS walk tracking) require precise location.
  • Emails: opt out of marketing emails via unsubscribe links or Account Settings. We may still send transactional/service messages.
  • Mobile Push: control push notifications in device settings.
  • Text Messages (SMS/OTT): with consent where required, we may send service or marketing messages. Opt out via message prompts or Account Settings. Certain operational texts may be required for service roles.
  • Cookie Controls: manage cookie preferences in the Privacy Management Center or your browser. Deleting cookies may reset preferences.
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): where recognized, we will honor GPC signals for “sale”/“share” opt-out as required.
  • Do Not Track: we do not currently respond to DNT signals; use GPC/cookie controls instead.

10) UK, Switzerland, and European Economic Area Data Protection Rights

If UK/Swiss/EEA law applies, you may have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction/objection (including to processing based on legitimate interests), data portability, and to withdraw consent prospectively. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, but please contact us first so we can help. When we act as a processor for another controller, direct your request to that controller.

11) California & U.S. State Privacy Rights / Do Not Sell or Share

If state privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA) apply, you may have rights to Know/Access, Correct, Delete, and Opt-Out of “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising/targeted advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of minors under 16.

  • Opt-Out of Sale/Share/Targeted Ads: use our Privacy Management Center or enable a recognized GPC signal. We may still share data with service providers acting on our behalf (e.g., measurement).
  • Sensitive Personal Information: collected/processed only as necessary to provide the Services or as permitted by law (e.g., verification, background checks, payouts, security). If used for additional purposes, we will notify you and provide options to limit/opt-out where required.
  • Authorized Agents & Verification: you may designate an agent; we verify requests as required by law.

Controller/Business Designation: We act as a Controller/Business (and occasionally as a Processor/Service Provider for specific features).

12) Children’s Privacy

KobiCare is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the age defined by local law) without verifiable parental consent. Parent/guardian account holders may share information about their children solely for care purposes. If you believe we have collected a child’s information without proper consent, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13) Changes to this Privacy Statement

We may update this Privacy Statement to reflect changes to our practices, Services, or legal obligations. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide additional notice or seek consent where required by law.
